"One of the most challenging aspects was
to create a look of traditional, vertical, slip
form walls, while actually constructing the
panels laying horizontally. We used larger aggregate
and drier concrete mixes, along with small rocks,
newspaper, sand, etc. to create the voids of
concrete around some of the larger stones, in
order to try achieve the look of concrete flowing
and settling vertically within this slip form
wall, like those seen in Taliesin. It was the
first time the contractor actually wanted the
architect to participate in the construction."
