This award-winning home was designed long and
low along the mountain ridge to take maximum
advantage of the panoramic views of the Roaring
Fork Valley.
The gable roofs, changing their orientation
from parallel to perpendicular to the ridge
of the mountain, give the residence the character
of smaller individual pavilions. A continuous
linear circulation axis in combination with
the "spine wall" runs the entire length of the
residence, creating galleries at both the interior
upper and lower levels and extending to the
exterior. Significant overhangs, recessed glass
curtain walls, and use of non-reflective materials
provide not only protection from the full southern
exposure, but also help to engage the residence
with its surrounding landscape.
