This distinctive house nestles in a steep wooded
site alongside the Little Nell ski run on Aspen
Mountain, and serves as a shared holiday retreat
for an extended family of 42 members. The seven
levels of the house step down the hillside at
half-intervals, with entertaining spaces on
the upper level, and bedrooms and private family
areas on the levels below. A central stair and
circulation core connects the different levels,
four of which have ski-in access.
The house consists of an entry garage, a ski
room, a children's media and bunk room (nicknamed
“the Far Out room”, complete with an elliptical
pit and stepped carpeted flooring), four guest
bedroom suites, and a large open kitchen/dining/living/sitting
area on the uppermost level, opening to a sunny
courtyard that faces and connects to the ski
slope.
